Mandvi is a beach town on the south coast of Kutch, about 58 km from Bhuj. It is known for a shipbuilding tradition about 400 years old, where wooden dhows are still built by hand on the Rukmavati river. Give it half a day between October and March, with time for the beach and Vijay Vilas Palace.
On the banks of the Rukmavati, shipwrights still build large wooden dhows by hand, using methods passed down for around four centuries. A half-finished hull towering over the riverbank is an unforgettable sight.
Good for parents and kids.
Vegetarian Gujarati snacks and meals are easy to find, including the local Kutchi dabeli.
