Kadiya Dhro, called the Grand Canyon of Kutch, is a small river-carved canyon of red, yellow and orange rock about an hour from Bhuj. The last 3 km or so is unpaved, so a sturdy vehicle helps. Go early on a winter morning, when the light is soft and the rock is cool.
Over thousands of years, a river cut through layers of sandstone and shale, leaving smooth walls in bands of red, gold and cream. It is small compared with a real canyon, but the colours and shapes make it one of the most striking landscapes in Kutch.
Parents can enjoy the view from the top. Do not swim in the pools.
No food on site. Carry water and snacks.
