Bhujodi is a craft village about 20 minutes from Bhuj in Kutch, where families weave shawls, stoles and rugs on handlooms in their homes. Give it 2 to 3 hours, visit a few workshops, and buy directly from the weavers. October to March is the most pleasant time.
Most weavers in Bhujodi belong to the Vankar community, who have woven wool and cotton here for generations. You can sit beside the looms, watch a shawl take shape thread by thread, and ask about the patterns, many drawn from the herding communities of Kutch.
Good for parents and kids. Buying directly from weavers helps them most.
Vegetarian food is easy to find in and around Bhuj.
